It seems like last week was Christmas and I just agreed to another New Years' resolution... February is here and we saw a robin eating berries from our pear tree yesterday. How wonderful! I am full of anticipation these days with the upcoming birth of my daughter's first child. So exciting! I am trying to keep my resolution so I might fit into a lovely dress for my son's wedding in May. I am busy ordering items and searching out vintage pieces for spring shows and sales. Brides are knocking on my door to view my selection of items available for rent for weddings etc...Plans are getting underway for a great spring 2012 season for Garden Girl all the way around! We have just updated our website with the new dates for our shop and shows...please join us!

I'm putting the finishing touches on wreathes, with bows and sparkles...
gathering cedar boughs,rose hips & berries to create seasonal arrangements...the feeling of winter & Christmas is in the air !

When we return from the show in Markham, we'll be readying the shop for our

Where did summer go? The gardens look tired after their flourish of activity awaiting a well deserved rest... colourful mums & pumpkins replace them. Thanksgiving is upon us as we celebrate the bounty of the harvest with family and friends. On Sun. October 23rd, Garden Girl will be at the Cobourg Lions' Centre from 12 ~ 4 for the Lasting Memories Bridal Show. We will be showcasing the many rental items we offer to enhance your wedding or next event.
November 18 ~ 20 we will be exhibiting at the Markham Fairgrounds in the 'Home for the Holidays' Christmas show. This is one of the premiere holiday shows in the area! We look forward to seeing you soon!!

Summer is almost here!

The lazy,hazy days of summer are almost upon us. With all of the rain this spring, the garden is looking lovely! We have displayed our garden accents etc. at garden shows already this year and have the Marketplace in Victoria Park upcoming July 1st weekend. Oh how much fun we have at the park during the holiday weekend!

Spring 2011

As Spring arrives this year I feel a sense of renewal. It has been a cold lengthy winter and I welcome the more moderate temperatures and sunny skies. Preparations have begun for the upcoming Peterborough Garden Show in April, one of the best in Ontario! I have gathered many great items to offer for sale and hope you will drop by our booth to see what's in store!
Garden Girl will be hosting a garden party to kick off the 2011 garden season later in the spring. Details and date to be announced. If you are interested in attending this soiree, contact us on our website by email to obtain an invitation for you and up to 3 friends.

The new year has arrived and is well underway... Christmas celebrations are but a memory. The below average cold weather and many snowfalls are made tolerable by dreaming of spring while pondering over gardening magazines and a hot cup of Earl Grey tea.
I have spoken with many brides and their mom's at the recent Bridal Spectacular Show making plans for their upcoming weddings. I have the pleasure of working with some great people helping them make their dream wedding come true!

My gals and I are making our annual trek to the Gift show and Jewellery Show at the end of the month. Other than having a great time, we are on the lookout for fabulous pieces to add to our inventory which will showcase in the Spring!

I'm looking forward to the upcoming season with anticipation. It is always a feeling of renewal when the snow melts and the buds appear. We invite you to visit Garden Girl at our shop or at one of our shows!

Well here we are and it's October already. Where did the summer go??? We took a drive north yesterday to see the 'colours' and it was breathtaking! We do live in the most wonderful part of the world! This summer has come and gone and was very eventful for us. While planning a wedding here in Cobourg, I found there was very limited availability to decorative items we wanted to use to enhance and use for a 'backdrop' to the outdoor ceremony and ballroom reception that we held.
So being that 'necessity is the mother of invention', we have accumulated many great pieces to add ambience and that 'WOW' factor to your next event! We will be offering items to buy and to rent from our shop. This aspect of our business will be launched on October 31 at the wedding show 'A Bridal Affair' to be held at the Lions Centre,
Elgin St. Cobourg from 11am until 3pm. You can find more info by clicking on the link provided under the 'events' page on the Garden Girl website.

Wedding Withdrawal

What can I say.... July 31st was absolutely amazing!! My daughter was married, the weather was exquisite,the property was beautiful and lush, the reception with fresh flowers and candlelight was breathtaking and our guests had a fabulous time! I am in a good place right now. I am happy the event is over as one can't keep up that pace forever,but I am having withdrawal like after Christmas or a really great vacation! I guess after planning and doing for over a year now, I can't really believe it is history now. However I am content that my daughter and new son-in-law are happy and starting their married life together and that makes it all worthwhile. Cheers!

Summer Solstice

Well summer is finally here! What a glorious day it was today! I've been so busy with my daughter's wedding plans, our 5th ann. shop sale, then a family estate sale and now preparing for the upcoming Waterfront Festival. The July 1st weekend is fast approaching and I plan on bringing some great items for the event! New handbags are arriving this week as well as some neat new pieces of jewelry. I have some quaint vintage items and garden paraphernalia as well. It should be a super time as always!

This past weekend's garden show in Peterborough was a success again this year! Saw many familiar faces and met some great people. Special thanks to my 'garden girl-friends' Shauna, Sue, Gail, Lena & Nancy who are always there for me! I'm going to take a couple of days to recuperate from the busy two weeks of preparation then get out into the garden to enjoy our wonderful spring weather before preparation begins for the first sale at the shop this season!

Peterborough Garden Show April 9 10 11

I hope everyone is looking forward to Spring as much as I am! The pussywillows are bursting on the tree and soon ready for harvesting. I hear robins chirping in the yard regularly now. The creek on the back property has risen to the top of its' banks as the snow continues to melt and the rains begin. I am busily preparing for the upcoming show in Peterborough with much anticipation! I have some wonderful items which I am finishing up and orders are arriving weekly. I'll have some quaint garden accents on hand and dreamy vintage home decor items too. We have already sold many pieces of new jewelry and fabulous handbags and will have new ones arriving in time for the show. I can't believe the show is only 4 weeks away! Well it's that time of the year again. The days are getting longer and thoughts of spring are running through my mind. I have just updated my website to reflect the new 2010 Garden Girl Shop schedule & Show Events. Our new 3-day Sales (tent-events) will be hosted in our lovely back garden, weather permitting.
